Brooke McEldowney's comic strip 9 Chickweed Lane features quite a bit of sexual innuendo - one critic wrote that "It feels like the only 'gag' in 9 Chickweed Place is how unbelievably horny all the characters are for each other" - so it would seem to be a natural for some erotic spanking action. We weren't familiar with the strip when Bawdy Bard and his long-time collaborator Kevin Karstens provided that action in the form we see here, and we're not 100% sure who the characters are since the cast is so large. We think they're Amos and Edda but it probably doesn't matter to anyone who doesn't follow the strip closely.
Despite McEldowney's eagerness to delve into sexual matters, Karstens' style is more erotic because it's more realistic. He gives Edda a very attractive face and fanny and of course is an old hand at the OTK position. Bawdy Bard as always dreams up a consensual situation, and bases the humor here on novice "master" Amos having to be told what to do by his very willing slave Edda.
